Hyperthyroidism This condition is where the thyroid doesn't produce enough of certain hormones to properly regulate the bodies metabolism. Type 2 diabetes A very common condition now in the western world. Many people who suffer from this condition are unable to lose weight. Menopause Weight gain is a very common symptom of the menopause. Most women experience the menopause between the ages of 45-55. MedicationsThere are many medications that can cause you to be unable to lose weight. This is true for both over the counter and prescription only medications. Be sure to read the label and check the potential side effects list for anything to do with weight gain. The most commonly offending medications of weight gain include: Steroids (e.g. prednisolone)Anti depressants (e.g. prozac, paxil, zoloft) Anti Psychotics (e.g. zyprexa)Contraceptive medicationsDiabetes medications (e.g. Diabinese)There are many more.
