Welcome to my diets to lose weight page. Here I look at the various different diets out there and examine the pros and cons. The advantage of this part of my site is the fact that I am not trying to sell you anything. I am not offering the magical solution to help you to lose weight. Keep it realWhen it comes to looking for diets to lose weight, it is very important to keep it real. By this I mean set yourself realistic goals. For many two pounds per week (or 1 kg) is a realistic goal. Avoid the scamsYou will have undoubtedly seen the internet is full of sites that promise you very quick weight loss, without dieting. Often these offer some pill you can take that claims to burn of your body fat. Nearly all of these are not proven to be safe and may harm your health. They rarely actually help you lose weight either. I would suggest you avoid these at all costs. The truth of the matter is, there is no magical instant solution to weight loss. However, it does not have to be complicated, it just requires a bit of will power. How do you know which diet is right for you?This is a very good question. The best diet for you is the one that will help you to lose weight and one you can stick to. Two diets I have tried and found effective are the zone diet and the atkins diet. The zone dietThe zone diet is a diet invented by a doctor in America called Barry Sears. The zone diet requires you to eat each meal containing an accurate balance of carbohydrates (40%), proteins (30%) and fats (30%). By eating in this way, the diet claims to help with weight loss and lower the risks of developing serious illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. One of the downsides of this diet is you do have to weight everything meticulously which can get a bit tedious. The low carbohydrate atkins dietThe atkins diet was developed by Robert C Atkins. Atkins believed people could lose weight by eating a diet high in fat and protein and low in carbohydrates. His book soon became a number 1 seller and many people started to eat low carb. I have personally tried the diet and still do it today to an extent and I have personally felt a lot better on it. It is important to remember, contradictory to common belief, it is not a diet high in fat that makes us gain weight. The calories we consume from carbohydrate have a much bigger effect on our weight than those consumed from fat. The advantage of the low carb atkins diet is the fact you are allowed you to eat many tasty foods that are strictly forbidden in most diets. In conclusion out of all the diets to lose weight these are the two I like best. However, if you have a different diet plan that works for you and you believe you can stick to it, stay with it. Assuming it is safe of course :)
